TURN A PAGE . . .
The intertwining narratives of a weary detective, a lonesome bartender, a recovering actor, and a restless spirit – all connected by their meetings with a sleazy pulp writer up to no good.
The pieces I write showcase ordinary human experience with extraordinary or otherworldly circumstances. My mission is to express how we humans feel, not on the inside, but deep within ourselves. I search for this through staging dreams, or even nightmares.
artist's statement:
A group of strangers are trapped in a basement when tragedy strikes - while a beast hunts them from outside; their fantasies, boredom, and curiosity eats away at them.
An ex-situationship reunite at the end of the world to explore their disappointments with life, relationships, and each other - only to face further disappointment as the doomsday clock ticks away.
My written work includes the plays Constipated, People Eater, Channel Surfing: An Unauthorized Nightmare, The Hour Between, and the short story Move Thirty-Seven. I also wrote the short films She’s Not Like Other Girls and What Went Wrong with the Domestic Dog, both produced by Second Hand Henry Films in 2025; the former was selected and screened by the Lift-Off Global Film Festival.
"People Eater" was produced by the College of Charleston Department of Theatre in 2025. Constipated has been workshopped by The 404 Collective, selected for the Indianapolis Fringe Festival, and staged in competition as part of the The Know Theatre of Cincinnati’s 2021 Serials Festival. Channel Surfing was staged by A-to-Z Productions as part of their Serials festival at The Know Theatre in 2026.
As a poet, my works have been featured in Eber & Wein’s anthology of American Poetry with other works printed in Mob Valet Press. I have been a member of the Cincinnati Playwright’s Initiative (CPI) since 2026.
Three unwitting friends are sucked into their favorite sitcom and forced into a surreal performance. It’s up to the neurotic and insecure Gina to navigate this nightmare; grapple with their all-knowing and kooky neighbor across the hall; and save her friends before it’s too late.
“If you're disappointed by the lack of kaiju in theatre, People Eater by Dylan D. Davis is the short play you've been looking for! While a monster rages outside destroying the city, three survivors huddle together in a basement in an attempt to wait out the destruction while struggling to maintain their sanity. Oh, but they don't struggle very well! They don't struggle very well at all! Davis does a fantastic job of conveying the characters' mental breakdowns with shocking visuals and some gory, hallucinogenic sequences that I'd love to see some special effects makeup wizard try to pull off.”
